If there is only one thing I could change in the world, It would be my thoughts. There are many explanations to how changing our thoughts can change the world, but first, I would like to touch upon a fundamental principle.
Let me share this profound quote from Lao Tzu.
Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become a habit. Watch your habits; they become a character; it becomes your destiny. -Lao Tzu
Our thoughts become our destiny because it is an endless cycle. Our thoughts affect the way we move and act, which in turn becomes a habit and our habits determine the way we think. This means that the way I thought and lived my life in the past has determined who I am in the present. And, how I live now will determine who I will be in the future.
Most of us living in the 21st century have tons of thoughts zooming through our brains. I am no exception. My brain was always full of thoughts going in and out.
As I searched through life, I found that there are many different ways to change my thoughts. For example, appreciating and enjoying what I already had allowed me to be more energetic, childlike and helped me seek true happiness and contentment in the present moment. You name it, I have tried it. I found tons of ways to change my thoughts. All the methods sounded good, and many of them were correct. However, most of them were only temporary fixes. I could not find any permanent fixes. To change my mind forever, I needed to deeply reflect on my mind and learn how to let go of my thoughts and eventually recover my original mind.
Psychologists say, humans have more than 60,000 thoughts per day.
So, how can we change all our thoughts? and if we cannot, how can we let them go?
I found that there are two ways to change one's thoughts. One way is to change our mind in our own mind's world.
Let me give you an example. I am quiet and calm, but I need to be cheerful and joyful. I could change my mind a little bit by thinking of cheerful and joyful things in my life. This can work and make me cheerful and joyful for a little bit. However, this change is not permanent because the expectation in our mind of what the world wants us to be is an illusion.
Another way to change the mind is from the universe's perspective.
When I reflected on my life from the universe's perspective, I realized what thoughts I had. I could recognize those were illusions. Furthermore, once I started to learn how to discard all my thoughts, I could find my clean, true mind.
It already existed within my mind.
From there, I was able to change my thoughts. When I used to have too many thoughts, I didn't know which thoughts I needed to change to change my mind. Once I discovered that I could discard my thoughts and find the original root, I found my true self. From there, I could easily change my mind.
To explain more about this meditation method, I would like to share a video about how to change your thoughts and live a better, more fulfilling life. I hope it helps you.
